Thomas Duckett Boyd family papers, 1860-1966 (bulk 1872-1935).

Papers are comprised of correspondence, financial papers, photographs, printed material, and manuscript volumes. Correspondence contains the letterbooks of Thomas Boyd (1876-1896), and personal correspondence of Annie Fuqua Boyd and other family members. Topics of interest include his election as Commandant of Cadets by the LSU Board, his presidency of the State Normal School, and letters and telegrams concerning his initial decline and subsequent acceptance of the presidency of LSU. Manuscript volumes consist of diaries, account books, school notebooks, and journals. Photographs include those of Thomas Boyd, Annie Fuqua, Governors Henry Fuqua and William W. Heard.

Thomas Duckett Boyd, younger brother of David French Boyd, was born on Jan. 20, 1854 to Minerva French and Thomas Jefferson Boyd of Wytheville, Virginia.
